Tonight, Thursday 19, from 6 pm, The Asia Foundation’s Community Art Gallery (#59, Street 242) presents Lane, a solo art exhibition by multi-media artist Meas Sokhorn, using a sculptural installation to critique the problems of Phnom Penh traffic.

On Friday 20 and Saturday 21, Java Café and Meta House host a special event, Performance Exchange: Dialogues on the costs and conditions of performance, to discuss the state of live art and performance art. At Java Café on Friday from 6.30 – 8 pm, an open public panel discussion on performance with artists and producers with representatives from local and regional arts bodies, followed on Saturday morning at Meta House with a closed exchange for artists, curators and researchers.

Tonight, Tuesday 10 at 6 pm, Meta House hosts a documentary screening and photographic exhibition for Seametrey Children’s Village, a fully integrated bilingual nursery and primary Montessori school near Tonle Bati, outside Phnom Penh. Rising Together from the Ashes, by filmmakers Maxie Borchert and Bilal Mohammed, follows the story of NGO founder and school director Muoy You, widow of Cambodian painter You Khin. Screening at 7 pm, to be followed by a Q&A with Borchert and Muoy You.

Also tonight, Tuesday 10, at 6.30 pm, the spring concert for Logos International School (#928, St. 1015 in Phnom Penh Thmei). Groups performing include a handbell choir, percussion ensemble and chorus. Tickets $1.

On Wednesday 6 from 6 pm, Sa Sa Bassac presents the opening of Poetic Topographies, a two-person exhibition of new work by emerging artists Eng Rithchandaneth and Kong Dara, curated by Vuth Lyno.  “With Inside Out, Daneth turns to the symbolic material of earth – a fertile source of life and the site of conflict. A puzzle-like formation lies on the floor; its pieces resemble geographic fragmentation. […] In a separate series, Sareirak, (Organism), Dara interprets his direct observations of behavior and affection among straight and gay passengers on public transportation in Bangkok.”
