Wednesday 15, 6 pm at Sa Sa Bassac, a talk by artist Yu Ji, in English with Khmer translation. “Yu Ji (b. 1985, Shanghai) is known for the diversity of her practice, dealing chiefly with sculptures and installations, as well as performances and videos. Her long-term interest has been an ongoing investigation into specific loci that are charged with geographical and historical narratives.”

Thursday 16, from 6.30 pm, Java Independence hosts the opening of Reverie, an exhibition by paper cut artist Lauren Iida. “Lauren transforms the flat surface of paper to a multi-dimensional sculpture, constructing layers, textures and accentuating the play of light and shadows.” Runs to 4 January.

Saturday 18 and Sunday 19, the International Phnom Penh Music Festival, Pianomania (The Piano: A European success story), continues at the InterContinental Phnom Penh – a wide range of international performers and works, each introduced with a pre-concert talk. On Saturday 18, 6 pm, N o w h e r e Gallery hosts the opening of Tales of Borneo, woodcuts by Rico Leong, from Borneo. “Rico translates his work through woodcarving and curating woodcut workshops to share with others on the traditional process of woodcut printing on both fabric and rice paper. Many of his illustrations can be found as cover art for Malaysian musicians in the punk scene, which is a subculture that holds an important position for what he stands for alongside personal experiences and opinions.” As a companion piece, two Woodcut Printmaking workshops are offered, on Saturday 18 and Wednesday 22. The Traditional Dance Show, presented by Cambodian Living Arts, takes place at the National Museum stage. The hour-long performance showcases classical and folk dances from across Cambodia, including the famous Apsara. Every night Monday-Saturday (October-April) and every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (May to September).
