Friday 10 marks the commencement of the International Phnom Penh Music Festival, Pianomania (The Piano: A European success story), a slightly different structure this year with performances over three weeks at the InterContinental Phnom Penh. A wide range of international performers and works, each introduced with a pre-concert talk. Tickets: $9 any time before the day of the concert, $12 on the concert day, $3 students and children.

Java Independence hosts Invisible Conversations, installation and images by Kong Vollak. “As an artist and a teacher, Vollak’s artistic impulse often coincides with an educational tendency. […] Through a collaborative project Jorng Jam (2014 – 2015) Vollak took the opportunity to interview his own family, collect their stories and to develop a deeper understanding of their experiences through his artistic work. This led to two ongoing bodies of work, one with salvaged photographs and another with clay figures, that explore memory, loss and resilience.”

The exhibition “explores imaginary cities of the future, inspired by real cities around the world and their historical legacies while employing science-fiction aesthetics. The Traditional Dance Show, presented by Cambodian Living Arts, takes place at the National Museum stage. The hour-long performance showcases classical and folk dances from across Cambodia, including the famous Apsara.
