On Friday 25 at 6 pm, Bophana Center presents the Filmmakers Without Borders Student Film Festival, featuring eight short films representing a range of styles, made by grade 7 to 10 students as part of a Children for Change project by FWB and Jake Wachtel. A Q&A will be held following the screening.

A new series of body music classes commence at the Music Arts School (#14, St 360, BKK1) this Tuesday 8, 6.30 – 7.30 pm (and then weekly thereafter) presented by Eric Ellul – teach yourself how to play your body as a musical instrument.   “You’ll learn how to integrate body, voice and rhythm and how to improve your improvisational skills.” Sessions are free, with no experience required.

On Wednesday 9 at 6.30 pm, Java Café Independence Monument presents In the City by Night, an exhibition of photographs by Sovan Philong. “The work quite literally illuminates the dark corners and the unseen of Phnom Penh. The carefully composed images and the artificial light seem almost theatrical. But when asked about this, Philong responded that he never posed his subjects. He merely unveiled their natural drama.”

At Meta House on Saturday 8, two video art presentations. At 6 pm, South African artist Minnette Vari will present selected works, which range from ink drawing to video installations, “work that examines the discomforts and desires at the heart of personal, political and historical narratives.” Khmer translation will be provided. This will be followed at 8.30 pm by the premiere of David Rylands’ Cambodia (2015, 30 min), the work of a electroacoustic composer and artist based in Brisbane, Australia that “explores the connection between everyday activity and a sense of belonging through engagement with place.” The sound and video was gathered throughout Cambodia during March 2015.

Kumnooh notes the imminent closure of Romeet Gallery, that since 2011 has provided an opportunity for showcasing the works of Phare Ponleu Selpak artists.
