On Friday 9, from 5.30 pm, the latest in the Vetika Brovoat Selapak/Art History Forum series, featuring a talk by Jim Mizerski on Angkor’s First Photographers and Early Photography in Cambodia at Pannasastra University of Cambodia, South Campus #184, on Norodom Boulevard. “This lecture will introduce the study of early photography in Cambodia. Early (mid-nineteenth century) photographers in Cambodia were non-residents from Saigon and elsewhere, and a few resident amateur photographers who were engaged in other professions.” In English with Khmer translation, free entrance.

At Java Independence Monument on Friday 9, from 6.30 pm, a new exhibition of artworks by Romcheik 5 artists Nget Chanpenh and Mil Chankrim, About Destiny: Two Perspectives. “Chanpenh’s series of paintings titled Tattooed Children explores how individual fates are determined by social status or situation […] Chankrim’s series of watercolors titled Back to Images features wiry and strangely proportioned figures in varying hues.”

SaSaBassac presents a new solo exhibition by Tith Kanitha, Instinct. The exhibition “brings together sixteen steel wire sculptures of varying sizes and distinctive, biomorphic forms. The artist has playfully staged them as characters throughout the exhibition space in both conventional and surprising ways – they hang, drape and dangle at different levels from the ceiling and walls, and rest on or slightly off open-ended pedestals.”

Sa Sa Art Projects presents Another sound, a collaborative exhibition by Chaing Mai installation artist Arnont Nongyao and Phnom Penh sound artist Khvay Leoung. “With the language barrier between the two artists, the presented work is not only a result of their collaboration but in fact also the method of their collaboration. The Traditional Dance Show, presented by Cambodian Living Arts, takes place at the National Museum stage. The hour-long performance showcases classical and folk dances from across Cambodia, including the famous Apsara.
