Tonight, Tuesday 20 at 6 pm at Meta House, an exhibition of arts and crafts put together by the Department of Fine Arts and Handicrafts at the Ministry of Culture, an annual showcase of works by artists and artisans from Siem Reap, Battambang, Kampong Thom, Prey Veng and Phnom Penh.

Also tonight, Tuesday 20, up in Siem Reap, Bambu Stage presents Temples Decoded at Tangram Garden, behind Wat Damnak. “Using a large interactive model, museum planner Nick Coffill creates a beautiful masterplan for a typical Cambodian temple that you can take as a mind-map to any location around the country.” The evening includes a set banquet at the Geographers Table at $25 (with discounts available). On Friday 23 from 6.30 pm at Bophana Centre, the Young Women’s Leadership Network presents Photo’s Voice, a photographic exhibition that arises out of a competition held for young Cambodians, 15 – 25 years old, “to highlight the importance of women in the development of the economy, health and environment sector in Cambodia.”

Friday 23 and Saturday 24 at 7 pm, the French Institute will host the first public screenings of Christopher Rompre’s documentary about the great Cambodian architect Vann Molyvann The Man Who Built Cambodia, with Q&A to follow. On Sunday 25 from 5 pm, Romcheik Pram brings to Battambang the recent Meta House show by hometown artist Hour Seyha, Phum Sakadey som swa kum! (Welcome to my village!). “Sakadey is the name of an imaginary village, living removed from time, whose inhabitants and various characters (ghosts, historical figures, stone statues, cartoon characters, animals, and even creatures that combine all these forms…) tell a timeless but also contemporary tale.”

The hour-long performance showcases classical and folk dances from across Cambodia, including the famous Apsara.
