Throughout October and November, the French Institute of Cambodia is running Vivre Ensemble (Living Together: City, Architecture and Housing), a series of events that will include conferences and film screenings and other happenings. The action starts tonight, Tuesday 6, at 6.30 pm, with the 2015 Architecture contest awards ceremony, with the exhibition of models created by students from six architecture schools in Cambodia on the topic The Immeuble-villa. On Thursday 8 at 6.30 pm architects Kang Hok, Ivan Tizianel and Yvon Chalm will discuss the history of the immeuble-villa concept, developed by Le Corbusier in the 1920s. Friday 9 from 5 pm, you can enjoy a double feature: Jacques Tati’s films Mon Oncle and Playtime. Finally for this week, on Saturday 10 at 10 am the screening of a documentary, Le Siecle de Le Corbusier, examining the architect’s life and work.

This week for Bophana Center’s Cine Soiree, on Tuesday 6 and Thursday 8, present About My Father, the story of a civil party involved in the first ECCC trial in 2009, and Kbal Neakta, the head of our ancestors. Presentations are at 6.30 pm, entry by donation.

On Wednesday 7 from 6 pm, Meta House hosts the opening of an exhibition by visual artist, visual DJ and designer Antoni Grzybek, 288 Square Centimeters, featuring a series of aluminium plates with round corners. “As a substitute for canvas, the Polish artist works on them, draws on them, paints on them, alters or scratches the surface. In its formal sophistication and atmospheric vitality, the work questions traditional painting even as it adheres to tradition. The result is a sketchbook of memories, day dreams and imaginative loop holes in the universe of Antoni Grzybek.”

On Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8, from 7 pm, Meta House presents Polish Animation Now!, a mini-festival curated by Antek Grzybek, teacher of classic and experimental animation at Warmia and Mazury University in Olsztyn, Poland. “Over 60 shorts introduce you to the wicked world of Polish animation, from the first puppet-animated film ever by Wladyslaw Starewicz to contemporary Oscar-winners.”

On Friday 9, a double event at SaSa Bassac. From 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm, on the rooftop of the White Building, Noise Hypnotising with Chinese musician and poet Yan Jun. “The audience is invited to bring their own earphones and join a sonic experience of rich, high frequency sound, which may make them sleep, wake up, or change their state of mind. The sound is improvised with and responsive to the sound of the environment and audience’s movement.” Afterwards, from 6.30 pm – 8 pm, SaSa Art Projects’ Pisaot artist-in-residence Clare Olivares will hold an open studio to share work and reflections from her four week residency.
