Greetings:
(Remember, if you need help finding any of the below mentioned Phnom Penh locations, most can be found on this map art_map_alt, kindly provided to the Kumnooh website by arts+society).
I have just today stumbled across a group called Spoken Arts Siem Reap. According to their Facebook page, it’s for “anyone who loves to perform – or listen to – spoken word, monologues, short narratives or any other form of lyrical expression.” Fortnightly Spoken Arts nights are held at Party House on Sok San Road, every other Tuesday from 8.30 pm. And the page also assures me it’s on tonight. And those literary minded who are shuttling from the north to the south this week would get an opportunity to back-to-back at the monthly Java Open Stage: Poetry open mic on Thursday 12 at 7 pm. This month the presentation will be preceded by a writers meet-up at 6 pm, an attempt to nurture a cross-language literature community in Phnom Penh. Readings and discussions and more! Recent months have seen the growing involvement of young Khmer writers along side the English and French. Downstairs at Java Café and Gallery, Sihanouk Blvd, Phnom Penh. All across town, the fourth annual Cambodian International Film Festival continues until Thursday 12, with free screenings at l’Institute Francais, Bophana Center, Legend, Platinum and Diamond Island. You can download the full programme here. Photo Phnom Penh also continues at multiple venues across the city. Phnom Penh Community College is hosting a double header of art workshops this weekend, on Saturday 14. Beyond the Self, on self portraiture in the morning, and Figure Drawing in the afternoon. Final registration is due tomorrow: Wednesday 11. Email: info@phnompenhcommunitycollege.com Congratulations to Our City Festival for reaching their fundraising target. We look forward to a vibrant programme of events in January. If you are a venue or artist and would like to receive a weekly reminder to provide Kumnooh with an upcoming event or activity, please contact fabianhipp@kumnooh.com For rock and roll and clubs, make sure you follow LengPleng.com as well.
