Kumnooh: Cambodia arts for the week commencing 29 October, 2013

On Thursday 31 from 2 pm to 4 pm, Cambodian Living Arts (Sothearos Blvd, just south of St 294) are holding a celebration of their Arn Chorn-Pond Living Arts Scholarships. Scholarship students will share their experience from last year and do a small performance. Open to the public.

On Friday 1 at 6 pm, at Meta House, a joint presentation by the Goethe-Institut and the Institut français du Cambodge: French and German singing cabaret and open stage to mark the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Elysée Treaty. Participation welcomed.

On Saturday 2 at 7 pm at Department of Performing Arts (behind Parkway Centre, with access through St 173), Amrita Performing Arts presents A Contemporary Arts Platform: An evening of Cambodian Contemporary Dance. Three works are to be presented: Bach Cello Suites, Dream and Ferocious Compassion. Tickets $2, available at Java Café and the Amrita offices at 128G9 Sothearos Blvd.

Also on Saturday 2 at 7 pm Meta House hosts the return of the WASH collaboration for a launch of their first album, Triptych, a blending of poetry and music conceived, created and recorded in Phnom Penh. Selection from both Triptych and their subsequent composition The Next Horizon will be performed.

ReCreation, a Cambodian based art agency, has launched a Search for Cambodia’s new emerging Cambodian artists, for 2014. Deadline is January 14, with announcement of winners on February 14. Check the website for more information, how to apply, and who to encourage to apply.
