Coming to Meta House on 21 June is Blush with the Past, a new exhibition of paintings by Ny Vannak.  “Sculptures of antiquity, from both the west and east, are recreated on canvas, blooming with elaborate pigmentation; a vigorous approach to reinventing ancient portraiture, from David to the Bayon.  For her exhibition Blush with the Past, Ny Vannak combines her interest in the wide world of faces and her love of vivid colour.”
 
Coming on 24 June to The Plantation is Convergence, a dual exhibition by artworks from two different artists, Théo Vallier and Grégory Gosselin, who both work with metal. 
 
In Siem Reap on 26 June, YINI Teahouse presents a poetry word extravaganza.
 
In Siem Reap on 28 June, Howl and FCC Angkor present an evening celebrating and promoting books newly published in Cambodia. 
 
The Cambodian International Film Festival returns next month and will run from June 28 to July 3.

LIFE WILL WIN, a fundraising exhibition for helping five organizations and volunteer groups currently in Ukraine supporting the humanitarian effort, with almost 40 different artists and more than 100 artworks. Many are artists who are currently volunteering in war affected areas, and 100% of the funds will be used to provide food, medical supplies and meet other urgent needs in the region.  Until 25 June.

On Friday 7, Sa Sa Art Projects presents Angkor and Rome: an open studio with artist Slovak visual artist and curator Jaro Varga, their current artist in residence.  Informal conversation with Jaro from 3 pm, presentation from 6 pm.  “During his residency at Sa Sa Art Projects, Jaro Varga was intrigued by the phenomenon of the emergence of a new satellite city inspired by European imperial architecture on the outskirts of Phnom Penh. While exploring unfinished and imposing Paris-like boulevards and eclectic residential districts, the artist reflected on the newly emerging heterotopic public space.  Through the mosaic, a European art technique, the artist transforms a fragment of a traditional painting from the epic Reamker, a Khmer adaptation of the Ramayana, depicting Hanuman and Suvannamaccha touching hands.”

This weekend French-Guatemalan visual artist and long time Phnom Penh resident Erick Gonzalez is opening his new gallery, L’Atelier d’Erick Gonzalez, on St 282 near St 57, with a range of his artwork on display.  “A versatile artist, he creates installations, objects, digital works, photography and painting. The reason for such diversity is none other than its constant search for harmony between the medium and the concept. His works focus mainly on social issues, identity, memory and spirituality.”  Saturday 3 pm – 8 pm and Sunday 3 pm – 6.30 pm.

Erick Gonzalez: Visual silence

Saturday 9 at 6 pm on Kampot at Hotel Old Cinema, the opening of Street Knowledge: The Kingdom of Hustles, a mixed media exhibition by Markus Dixon exploring the possibilities of the ubiquitous Cambodian street tile. There will be an accompanying concert, The Kingdom of Hustles Mixtape, featuring old Cambodian songs reimagined with hip hop beats and contemporary singers.
